This handmade Organic Amish Moses Basket is not only beautiful, but is the only "one of a kind" basket you will find anywhere where the basket and bedding are all made here in the USA! At the moment, we have not offered it elsewhere. It is all Fair Trade and all organic! Nothing is ever imported (all other moses baskets are imported from other countries and much of the bedding is also imported - meaning - much of it contains toxic formaldehyde (polyester fill in the futons) - much of the bedding and baskets are sprayed prior to coming into the country).

The entire basket is made in a remote area of the United States by the Amish. The Amish work without electricity. By purchasing a basket, it also helps their families and helps support the children.

The workmanship of the Amish is outstanding! They are wonderful craftsman and they put so much time into each basket they create.

We source all of our wood from a renewable forest here in the USA. Your wood actually comes from the United Sates. Most other baskets are made from natural fibers (from another country) that are more prone to molds and to fray. Our wood on your basket comes from a very environmentally friendly wood manufacturer. No sprays have ever been used on the soil, trees or the wood. It is completely untreated wood. The wood we source is also naturally free of any insects.

The basket is a beautiful light, natural color wood (our purely organic rocking stand matches beautifully and we have it made to fit your basket). We also use only certified organic materials on our basket. Order an organic futon to fit your basket - also in a beautiful oatmeal color.

The Amish actually take the lumber (renewable source wood) we provide and weave it into strips - weaving it into an absolutely beautiful heirloom basket! The wood is not rough in any way, but beautifully finished by hand. Our handles are sturdy and made of the strongest natural, organic material available. No glues and no toxic metals are ever used - only all organic materials - just purely natural and organic as you can get. Other basket handles are not as strong and tend to fall apart and fray. Our handles are extremely sturdy and will last you a very long time. Others will not last nearly as long since they are made with plant fibers. We receive calls frequently about baskets where the handles fell apart. You will be able to use this basket time and time again with no need to invest in another basket. It will outlast all others.

As with any basket, always support the basket with one hand on the bottom while carrying your basket by the handle. The baskets are lightweight enough to be easily carried from room to room and they can be placed next to your bed in our beautiful purely organic hardwood rocking stand.

Handwoven wooden moses baskets are sturdier for your baby in addition to being beautiful and unique. Every bit of your basket has been handmade and handmade here in the USA. You know what you are getting when you purchase an Organic Amish Moses Basket. There is no risk of anything toxic coming in contact with your basket or little one. The sides can not collapse inward. This makes it safer for your baby. Other baskets tend to unravel and fray over time and mold has a tendency to build up in other natural fiber baskets over time. Baskets made of plant fibers - most all other baskets - palm/maize can get moldy from any dampness. Mold is extremely unhealthy.

Baskets made of plant fibers (all other baskets made of palm and maize)typically are only used for the first baby. They do not hold their shape and the handles tend to fall apart. Our Amish basket can be used from baby to baby. Wood holds up beautifully in addition to being beautiful. Your baskets will last a very long time. Our baskets are also used longer than other baskets since they are wider and can accommodate a baby much longer.

Your Amish basket is free from all chemicals. When ordering other organic moses baskets, there is no guarantee that you are receiving a natural or organic basket that is chemical free. Any baskets as well as any products being shipped from overseas can be stopped and sprayed at any time in customs (even if they leave the country of origin without any chemical sprays). All other moses baskets are shipped from overseas. They spray the baskets with formaldehyde to prevent insects from coming into the U.S. (This comes from a very reliable authority who imports baskets). Always ask where your basket and bedding are from and who made them. If they are imported (a lot also come from China) as just about all are, there is no way to absolutely know if those were sprayed at any point in shipping and there is now way you can tell. There is no odor from the chemicals. That is why we developed our organic baskets to be made completely in the USA.

Other baskets can get moldy while the wood will not. Your wood is resistant to mold. Mold is very unhealthy for everybody - especially for little ones.

Each basket is signed and dated by the Amish. Your basket is also wider by several inches than other baskets (30x15 on the bottom as well as the top)than most organic moses baskets (most measure only 10-12" wide on the bottom!) to accommodate twins or to just allow more space for your baby to sleep and time your baby spends in the basket. Many moms prefer a wider basket. It is certainly worth the investment. It will out last other baskets. The handles will not break as others due and the basket will never fray and fall apart as others so often due. It can be used from baby to baby. We can have your babies name lovingly handwritten on the basket (let us know at checkout!). Baskets will be signed and dated by the individual who wove it. This makes a wonderful, unique – one of a kind heirloom piece and a wonderful gift!

Unfinished wood can be easily painted in eco- friendly/healthy paint or stain. The properties of the wood we use make make it perfect to paint. Our rocking stands are also made to accommodate your basket perfectly. All of our handmade bedding is made in the USA - firm organic futons, quilted bumpers, futon covers (fitted sheets that wrap around your futon), pure wool snuggle pads, and puddle pads (that protect your futon from wetness) also fit this basket. You can also choose anything on our moses basket accessories page or drop down menu and we will have it made to fit your basket. Anything can be added separately for you or ordered from the site. It will come to fit your basket and you will love it! We would also be happy to get together pricing for you. Ours organic futons are beautiful! It is approximately 2" thick and firm for your baby to sleep on. If you desire a wool filled futon, please add the wool fill option in the drop down menu for an additional 20.00 and we will have it filled with wool for you. Our entire bedding line of futons, bumpers etc are all hand made here in the USA.

As a Fair Trade basket, you will be helping all those involved in making your basket (the Amish and co-op of women that live here in the USA who are from the mountains of Vietnam) to supply food for their children. All of our bedding is made of and filled with all certified organic cotton - never any polyester fill (others call hypoallergenic fill). Our bedding (except for our hand stuffed futon) is machine washable. Our fabrics come in a beautiful, natural organic sateen. White sateen, organic designer fabrics as well as low impact organic dyed fabrics are available. Color charts and swatches are available. We also offer an attachable/retractable Amish hood made from renewable source wood (no unhealthy metal or plastic components) with organic sateen fabric.
